Tourist visa to LMIA/Work Permit - Child schooling

Hello,

I am currently on tourist visa in Canada (originally from India) and waiting for my LIMA approval. My 8 year daughter is also with me in Canada.

I wanted to ask the following:

1. If I get the Work Permit in next couple of months, can my daughter join school (grade 3) in the middle of the school year ?
2. How will the school in Canada assess in which grade my daughter will get accepted; a report card from India, by age or by some kind of assessment??

I am worried if the LIMA and then the work permit takes long (7 to 8 months) to be approved, my daughter will loose 1 year of schooling and will get behind in school as per her age.
