My sister in law who is pregnant applied visitor visa for her mom. She applied twice and got rejected twice. She has very less time before the due date.

Reasons of rejection: personal assets, travel history.

We showed 2 Lakhs in India, and 3000$ in Canada.

My cousin and sister in law are permanent residents. Her mom never visited any other country before.

They are confused. Any help would be really appreciated.

That's far too long for someone who has never left their country - and the funds demonstrated are also insufficient for this length of a trip.

She should reapply and request a 2-3 week trip.

What evidence did she provide to show strong ties to her home country?

Hi,

To add to Scylla's question:
1. Was any of the money deposited in her mom's bank account just for the visa application?

2. INR 200,000 is very low.... and so is CAD 3,000 of the hosts.... does her mom have any other financial assets like FDs, pension, jewelry as an investment, etc?

3. Does her mom own any property or land?

4. Does her mom live with any immediate family?

5. Did they give the purpose of visit as wanting her mom to take care of her and her baby?

Cheers

Deposited in her own account

2. INR 200,000 is very low.... and so is CAD 3,000 of the hosts.... does her mom have any other financial assets like FDs, pension, jewelry as an investment, etc?

No financial assets, or any investments or fd's

3. Does her mom own any property or land?

No, unfortunately ... they can't show it now as well

4. Does her mom live with any immediate family?

she lives with her husband

5. Did they give the purpose of visit as wanting her mom to take care of her and her baby?

yes, my sister in law mentioned she is pregnant and her mom will take care of her

Cheers

Hi,

Unfortunately, she has ticked all the wrong boxes that has lead to refusals.... last minute deposits in her bank account + no financial assets + no property + stating she will take care of her daughter/grand child.

IMO - and although your sister-in-law needs her mom shortly - she must not reapply for another couple of months.... as she has very weak ties to India.

When she reapplies:
1. She must limit her intended visit to 2-3 weeks max.

2. Prepare an itinerary like a tourist/visit her daughter and grandchild (nothing to the effect that she wants to take care of them)

3. Provide a must return by date for a wedding, some other compelling reason.... with evidence

4. If your sister-in-law's bank balance is low then she can include your cousin as the co-inviter + submit proofs of both bank accounts + both NOAs, etc

5. Can your sister-in-law's father provide a Letter of Financial Support for her mom + prove that he has the finances to pay for her visit?

6. No last minute bank deposits, too

7. Include proof of buying an overseas medical insurance policy for the duration of her visit (although this is not mandatory)

Cheers
