Hi! Is it true that an Interview is no longer in needed in applying for a tourist visa? Because my mom is going to try to apply next year, and she cannot speak fluent english, and she's very nervous. (she got denied in 2003) thank u very much!

Hi,

The applicants mostly are not asked for an interview for a visitor visa & as for your mom not being in fluent in English it is not a requirement for anyone applying for a visitor visa. In fact the embassy provides assistance of translators for applicants who are unable to speak English or are not so fluent.

No need for your mom to be nervous.

Good luck!!!

Thank you very much! And also all she have back there is a business permit for an apartment, do u think that's enough proof that she has ties back home?

Guess she would be on sticky wicket on the issue of ties to her home country. If you are her only issue & there are no other siblings or spouse living with her it would be tricky to establish strong ties in absence of immediate family members in her home country.

"Business permit for an apartment"-does it indicate that she has title or ownership of that apartment then certainly add these papers with her visa application. Bank deposits & any sources of income in her home country would make her case more positive. The idea is to convince the visa counselor that she intends to come back after visiting you & does not intend to stay in Canada after expiry of her visitor visa.

Hope this helps.

Well actually I am not the one inviting her, but my brother, who is adopted by my aunt(mom's sister). He's getting married next year and really want our mom to attend the wedding.
Yes, the apartment is under her name, that's all she has and the bank deposit. I really hope she'll be given the chance to come here, I will be sponsoring her once I get my citizenship here. If only there's a way to make the consuls believe that she is in fact coming back to the philippines, U know we dont wanna mess up the application. Its kinda sad.
