My girlfriend is a high school teacher in China. She is a Chinese citizen. Last summer I visited her. This summer she wishes to visit me in Canada. I am a Canadian citizen. The plan is for her to come for a month or longer.
I’m just wondering what obstacles we may face with her tourist visa. In browsing this forum it seems more complex than I realized.
First, my understanding is that the tourist visa has a six month limit. So we were planning on making the application for a one month time frame and if she wants to stay longer I would assume that is no big deal, within the six month limit (like Canadian teachers, Chinese teachers have a long summer vacation period).
My second question concerns her visiting me. Is that a potential problem as opposed to her taking an organized tour or that sort of thing? We are considering eventually getting married. But I want her to see Canada and get a feel for it.
Can we expect any problems with this application?
