Hello,
this is sameer from hyderabad, india willing to study and settle down in canada. but i have few worries and problems regarding visa applications and confusions because of the rumors spread by the consultants here.

my profile
10th: 71.5%
12th: 58.8%
grad: 56.95% (with 20 failures)
ielts: 6.5 with no band less than 6

here are my questions:
1. i have done my graduation and now i wanna pursue my PG from canada under spp college. here my worry is i have lots of failures in my graduation and the big number stands at 20. so will this matter in issuance of visa?

2. i'm interested in doing diploma rather than Pg because it is more practical oriented and the subject turns interesting to learn and enjoyable. so can i take up a diploma course? if so, will i get refused for visa?

3. to overcome the 2nd problem i'l take up a pg cource relating to my field and after landing in canada can i change my course to diploma? if yes, will my study permit get extended ?

please i'm very terrified regarding these issues. help me!!

regards.

1. Yup this will affect the visa chances ....
2. Study mismatch chances will increase if u go for diploma.
3. If u change ur course to lower or higher level you have to inform CIC, but why do u want to get ur study permit extended....

Any logic in saying that a 1 year Master graduate will get a 1 year PGWP and a 2 year diploma will get a 3 year PGWP. Don't you think if your course worth only a 1 year PGWP.

You can change to any course higher and lower level but you must have to inform CIC about that, and after that the extension of your study permit will be on CIC discretion....................

Hi,

1. Yes you can apply, no one can predict about visa, and it depends on case to case basis.

2. You will most probably get refusal of visa, if you apply for lower a level diploma.

3. You can try to secure visa first on PG course, and then reach Canada early (atleast 2 weeks before start of your course)... and take admission in a diploma course of your choice (you may like to take offer letter while in India too... if you think that the seats may get filled up by the time you reach Canada), and apply to CPC,Alberta for change of visa condition to study a UG diploma form an originally planned PG course.

Best of Luck.

Hi,

Most universities require atleast 70%. But, It also depends on which field you want to pursue your Master's in, your overall profile (overall academics, area of study, specialization, IELTS score, GRE score (may be required by some Universities), work experience, research publications (if any) etc.) and the individual department of the university. Some universities such as University of Regina MAY accept if you have 60%+ marks in a 4 years Bachelor's degree, have a good profile and apply for a suitable Master's degree in University. SO, you 've to visit individual university websites and contact the concerned department, present your profile and email them about admission requirements and ask if they may be willing to accept your application.
Here's the list of recognized universities:
