Hello All,

I'm a Canadian living with my British wife in London, UK. We have no children and my wife is the only person that will be coming to Canada. I'm struggling to figure out exactly how many photos we need to have done for the various pieces of our application. If you could let me know if the below is correct or if I'm forgetting something I would really appreciate it.

As near as I can tell we need:

Medical Exam: 5 photos with nothing written on the back using the Canadian immigration photo specifications

Police Certificate: 1 photo using the UK Home Office passport photo specifications with "I certify this to be a true likeness of (your full name)" on the back, signed and dated by an endorser

Actual Application: 8 photos using the Canadian immigration photo specifications and on the back of "one photo (and only one) write the name and date of birth of the person appearing in the photo as well as the date the photo was taken." leaving the back of the other 7 photos blank

Is that right?

Thanks,
Michael

You'll actually need 4 more when you are issued your Visa as well. But this sounds familiar to me.

4 more when visa is issued? Do they have to be the same photo as in the application? If so I need to call for the duplicates. I cannot understand why the process requires so many photos! ???

Thanks fallenstar. 18 total photos for one person! Crazy!!

I said the same thing... I jsut remember it being a massive pain to go back and get more when the visa came... if we would have known we would have done them all at once. :D

I have my medical next week, i wasn't aware they need to be to the visa spec (as per the actual application), as i was about to give them some to just the normal uk passport spec taken in the photo booth. Can anyone confirm this?

The specific instruction from form 3999 (The Immigrant Guide) says "5 recent photos, taken within six months preceding the date of your examination". It makes no mention of which spec to use, so I'd imagine the photo booth pictures would be absolutely fine.

I'm planning to get ours done all in one go, so the photos for the medical will - merely by coincidence - match the Canadian Immigration photo spec.
