Hello people,

I know there is no straight answer to my question but still I want to get people's opinion regarding our situation and alternatives.

My wife and I are 36 years old. We have a 4 year old son. My wife is a very experienced Banking IT Business Analyst, she has a very unrelated university diploma on Econometrics (2006) and she is not good at English language. On the other hand I have 6-7 years of Internal audit/Controls and 6 years sales planning & sales finance experience, both on managerial level. Our son is a marvel fan :)

In order to overcome the two things she believes that are keeping her away from achieving a better career, my wife is seriously thinking on first taking a language course followed by a post-graduate degree/diploma/certificate related to her current experience .

Thinking that our son could benefit from the language as well, we are thinking on doing this in Canada.

Immigration is not our ultimate goal but still we are thinking if our situation plays out in our and Canada's favor why not do it.

We were able to identify 3 College programs that seem to satisfy her.
1- Conestoga (Kitchener) - Information Technology Business Analysis - Operations (2 years)
2- George Brown (Toronto) - T405 Information Systems Business Analysis (1 year but 3 semesters)
3- Red River (Winnipeg, Manitoba) - Business Technology Management (2,5 years)
4- (Open to suggestions)

At first we were only looking at Toronto area but then we met someone who is experienced in education/immigration insisted that we should consider Manitoba because it is very easy to get a PNP and then a PR (his saying). According to him If I could get a job in Manitoba we could get a PNP even before my wife graduates. And cost of life is cheaper since we would be spending from our savings unless I find a job.

The questions regarding Winnipeg and Red River College in our minds are:
1-Though Weather conditions Are we going to sit at home all winter :)
2- Enough corporate Job Opportunities (Both for me and her)
3- 2,5 years college length
4-not sure if the city satisfy us generally

In terms of Conestoga and George Brown
If we would be living in Kitchener, it seems that it it takes an hour to drive from Toronto but about nearly 2 hours with public transport (correct me if I am wrong). Considering I will look for a job in Toronto this could be a problem right?

And also compared to Winnipeg rents are slightly more expensive but it doesn't seem to be very different (again correct me if I am wrong).

After completion she would be able to get 3 years PGWP and then as far as I know we have two common options to pursue for PR
1- Get 1 year experience and apply to express entry
2- Get a job offer and apply to OINP (Employer Job Offer: International Student Stream)

Finally George Brown:
Short program is easy to finish, more economical but you only get 1,5 years of PGWP and I am not sure if we want to go for PR, the time will not be enough to find a job, apply & get processed etc. At least I don't think applying through EE with 1 year experience is doable in such a short period. (Is it?)

George Brown is in Toronto so definitely our rental cost will be higher but transportation cost will be in our favor.

I have no clue what to do with our little one and which option will be better for him :)

Wow I wrote a lot. I hope I was able to express our state of mind at the moment.

if you want to immigrate why not look at express entry? Not sure your wife will get a student visa. It will be assumed that you are trying to immigrate. Also there is no guarantee that you and your child will be given a visa to accompany her if she gets a student visa.

I would imagine commuting from Kitchener to Toronto everyday could get close to 3 hours daily door to door. Also quite expensive since I think you have to take Via rail daily.

Thanks for your contribution mate.

Immigration is not our ultimate goal actually so apply through express entry will take too much time and its not guaranteed. And I also checked our CRS it will be around 420-430 I think. And looking the past 4 year scores accepted that score wont have much chance. 2017 seems to be an exception with scores accepted as low as 413 other wise it is around 440-450.

Regarding to our visa application it will be a disappointment for us, as we have more than enough financial savings and real estate property on our homeland, and as I told you we will only consider immigration if it works for both sides. But of course we know that the visa process is never guaranteed and might be assessed from a different point of view.

Murat

Hey, I am in same situation as that of yours but planning for PR through study path.
1. Looking for second masters degrees as i already have MBA and 9 years of exp in IT.
2. Affordable tution fees but also good job prospects post course completion.
3. Since moving in with my husband and baby, looking for easy courses to study with less weekly classes.

Any suggestions? Which course did you opt for?
