If you look at any college requirement for the language, you will find toefl there. So yes it is accepted. Its better then ielts in my opinion.

I've done both of tests. It's not easier than IELTS, as far as I concern. Requires 4 hours full-time concentration.
I think it is harder to reach necessary score in Toefl than IELTS.

Note that they do not send official results to your home address as British Council does. Well, they say they do, but results are mailed from USA and it could take months to received them. I haven't received my score since May, despite my protest note to ETS! And you need them for your visa application!

I took the TOEFL iBT in New York City on August 10th, and it took until the first days of September for the results to reach my university in Canada. I did receive a copy of the results at home (Finland) too, and funnily enough, I already got that on August 30th even though the distance from USA to Canada is much shorter than from USA to Finland.

Hey universities accept TOEFL,but for student visa under SPP only IELTS is preferred but not a mandate.So if you are yet to give TOEFL,try to give IELTS and score above 6.5.

And TOEFL as said by the above post is not tht tough to score.But,yes 4 hours of concentration is needed.
