I received this letter from CIC this past Saturday:
Dear Applicant:
This refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada.
We have received your request to change your Immigration category from Skilled Worker to Provincial Nominee.
Please note, that under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA), your Immigration category cannot be changed once an application has been accepted for processing.
IRPA defines immigration categories to include FSW, Canadian Experience Class, Quebec Skilled Workers, Provincial Nominees, Investors, Entrepreneurs, Self Employed Persons and the Family Class. These are distinct classes prescribed under the regulations, each with its own regulatory criteria.
If you wish to be considered in another class, you may:
a) Withdraw your initial application and reapply with a new application and new processing fees in the new class, or
b) Submit a new application in another class, while continuing with the consideration of the original application. ( New fees also required )
If you choose to submit a new application, it must be submitted to the Visa Office responsible for service in your country of nationality or legal residence.
