Hi!

I have a Bachelor and a masters degree in English and later a diploma in Public Relations and Communication and have been working for around 3 years in the same field. Under the TN Visa Occupation list, I don't see a category for my profession. As a Canadian citizen, if I want to work in the US via a TN visa, do I need to align myself with a particular occupation? How do I make this work? Please advise me.

You would be better off asking this question on a USA immigration website.

TN is very very restrictive.....in terms of which occupation it allows. Your job should be aligned with one on the list, and you should meet the minimum criteria for that.

I have seen lot of people whose occupation was not on the list......somehow sneaked in as Management Consultant, that how it used to be. But don't count on it now.......its very heavily scrutinized nowadays. But no harm trying.

Other option is H1b.......well that is another ballgame now. Dont want to divert the thread. But those are the option.

Spouse of TN visa holder is not allowed to seek employment as a dependent. They need to independently seek TN visa if they wish to work.
