I applied for immigration to canada in the professional class category in January 2010. My processing began in April from CHC London. I am a Pakistani citizen who has been in Saudi Arabia for almost three years now. I received request for medicals and payment of landing fee in late August 2010. Along with the Medical, I was asked for another set of Police Clearence Certificates, as well as a form for both myself and the wife to fill out. Medicals were delivered to CHC London on Oct 1, 2010, and the fee was paid on Oct 10, 2010. Since then I have been waiting for the next step. I sent a case specific inquiry to CHC London, and got back a response that they were waiting for my background check to complete. In the last 5 years, I have lived only in Saudi and Pakistan, and travelled only to India, London and Sri Lanka.
I need some help in understanding the timeline. I have been checking this forum on and off, and believe that background checks can take notoriously long!! When should I realistically expect the next step, whether it is an interview or passport request to take place?
