Dear everyone,

Please help me regarding the application which is currently under consideration.

I am a Sri Lankan citizen, currently working in Japan as a postdoc researcher, and submitted my application for the work permit through online on Feb 10 (2017). The timelines for applications from Japan and Sri Lanka (for making a decision on visa application) are 2 and 4 weeks respectively, according to the CIC's website. Five weeks have been passed and my application is still under consideration.

Could you suggest me until when should I wait? If not, to whom should I make correspondence and how?

Thank you very much.

Uma

Unfortunately it will take as long as it takes as the times posted on the CIC site are just estimates not guarantees and depends on workload. Even if were easy to contact anyone it would not result in any individual application being expedited.

Hi,

Yesterday I received a request for submission of additional documents, multiple police clearance certificates from Japan (where I live currently) and Sri Lanka (my nationality).

Since I already expected that I might need police clearance, I had already applied and obtained the document from Sri Lankan police (which was issued last month and hope it is valid). Meanwhile, I have applied the clearance from Japan police today and it would take 7 days. The CIC have given me 2 weeks of time before which I have to lodge the documents.

In CIC website, it has been indicated that I might upload the evidence showing that I have already applied for the clearance from police. At this time, would you think, that I should upload the Sri Lankan clearance report along with the temporary receipt issued by Japan police? Or should I wait until Japan police clearance certificate arrives and collectively upload both of them?

Thank you.

Hi,

I submitted my work permit application on 10.02.2016. After 2 days, I was requested to submit biometrics and I did so. Then, I was asked to submit police clearance certificates from two countries on 29.03.2017. After a week, I submitted both certificates via online.
Today, I received a letter stating that "A decision has been made on your application" (But, it was not mentioned whether my visa is approved). However, the letter requested me to send my passport.

I would like to know, whether a decision on my visa application would be positive or not, as I should resign my current position and prepare for the traveling. If my visa will be refused (in case), then I do not want to resign the current position. To receive the passport, it would take 10 days, and my prospective employer in Canada is in hurry to have me in the University, and hence I would like to speed-up the resigning and traveling procedures if I know about my visa status confidently.

Please advise me.
