Hi guys I sent off my PR app at the end of July after getting ITA in June. Hoping that I'll be successful and that I'll get PR within next 6 months. My question is, after getting PR is there any deadline by which you'd be required to land in Canada? Or is there no expiry, you could decide to wait a year if you wanted?

You are necessarily required to land in Canada before your Medicals expire or your passport expires, whichever is earlier. You can then choose to be present for a 2 year window (not necessarily continuous) over 5 years to maintain PR status.

Meaning that, if you are not prepared to move to Canada before your medicals, etc. expire, you can fly to Canada, "land", then go back home for a year or more, and so long as you spend at least 2 of the next five years physically in Canada, you will not lose your PR status.

One year from the date you took the medical.

Yes. But you're in a good position because you did your medicals shortly before submitting your application. So you have the maximum time available to land in Canada.

Other people have already done their medicals prior to even receiving an ITA.

I explained here why this is potentially a bad idea:
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/avoid-medicals-before-ita-if-you-can-new-cic-rule-t337135.0.html
I had read that post. Nicely written. But I reckon that if my medicals expire, I can anytime take a new medical and can enter Canada after that. Isn't it?
