Hello all,

My parents applied for Canada multiple entry VISA in July, and both were granted VISA that expires in 2018. It really surprised all of us as we expect to get only 1 year max. Now they have arrived in Canada and provide care for me during my pregnancy and wish to see the birth of their first grandchild. I am not sure how long they can stay for this visit as there is no clear indication from the border officer, and whether they must leave Canadian soil 6 months form the date of entry and re-enter, or they can simply stay without inform Immigration Canada?

Nobody at the border told them by which date they must leave, I am not sure if there was any policy change for V-1 Visa.

Any answer would be very much appreciated. Thank you:)

when they entered Canada, if no other date was written/stamped on their passports then they are allowed to stay at most 6 months unless they apply for extension before their allowed expires.

Thanks so much. Could you please briefly explain to me how to apply for the extension? In person or mail or online? When to apply and how long it normally take to get a response for Immigration Canada?

Thanks again.

30 days before the expiry date is what CIC recommends but if you can be sure the app package reached CPC-Vegreville on or before the expiration date, then that should be okay.
