Hi everyone,

Does anyone know how long PR takes this Year. It has been 9 months since I have filed my application for permanent residence (spousal sponsorship). So I was just wondering if it has ever took anyone else this long. And I wonder if one can leave the country for ex. to Europe to visit family.

I appreciate any response

Thanks

What date did you send it? CIC website says they are processing applications received up to May 16. Mine took 9 months and 3 weeks. Can you log onto e-cas? What does it say? Maybe you can try calling the call centre and see if they will give any info about your application. If you applied inland, it's usually not advised to travel until the process is complete.

Unfortunately(or fortunately) your timeline is perfectly normal Qaila. I sent my inland application 8 months and half ago. Just today i called the call centre and they told me that on the 9 th of march they sent me a letter regarding my approval to go on with the quebec government(It is not AIP, it is only 1 more set of papers to fill in case you apply within quebec). it took 14 days for their letter to arrive from vegreville, alberta to quebec. yesterday i went to the post office and there was nothing for me but today when i finished talking with the call centre i went to check and my mail was there!! so all afternoon i filled my quebec papers and just before the post office closed i sent them right away. I'm sure your AIP is on the way, if you applied 9 months ago i would predict that you will receive it in max 2 more weeks. If you havent received in 1 more month there maybe mpore complications with your file, in that case call the call centre but until then be positive

What you can do tomorrow or the day after is to call the call centre just to be sure. they may have sent your AIP already and it is maybe on the way. in case it got lost in the mail don't worry. you have to wait 3 weeks since they sent it to you for them to send you another one. that s what the call centre agent told me today

If there is anything that is not straight forward in your app, it will take longer. AIP is taking about 10 months right now, when we applied it was 5 months. We have been in process for 18 months without AIP.

If you file inland, you cannot be guaranteed reentry to Canada. Depends on what sort of temporary status you have in Canada, some people have no issue leaving, but generally with an app in process, leaving is not recommended. If you are denied reentry you will have to reapply outland.
