Time G2 licence valid if arriving, getting it and then leaving in a few days..

Hello,

If I land in Toronto and get my G2 (hopefully) and have to leave within a few days, will it still be valid in a year's time? My letter of authentication will not be valid in a year, was difficult to get so want to get G2 licence and then do tests etc once I return.

Anyone done this? If you can kindly let me know,

You'll get your G2 as soon as you pass the written exam and it will be valid in a year. Make sure they consider your experience so you don't have trouble in a year when you return doing the full G driving test (experience will let you skip G1 test once).

Depending on how much time you have, you could standby for the driving test and do it same day without appointment if someone else doesn't show up (I would suggest going out with an instructor first to get the tips on what they'll look for and differences vs what you may be used to)
