It depends on the bank. Different banks have their own procedures and the clearing time relates to their inter-bank arrangements.

in my case. the encashing of my managers check took so long that the embassy send the check back to me because the the days that the bank allow the cashiers check was only for 90 days...unfortunately when they start my file the 90 days had lapsed so they send it back requesting for another check...and it took another 70 days before they cashed the second one.What I did then was, keep calling my bank if there was a cash check cashed.you might want to do that.
