Got a my application returned to me today, as we had signed the back of more than one of the photos submitted. Some serious nit-picking going on. Hopefully this doesn't set us back too far. Anyways, all part of the process I guess. At least I heard something, and the turning of the wheels has become palpable.

Oh bummer KL8N, sorry to hear about that! I guess that's Mississauge and not the Tokyo office? I wonder why they care... maybe they need to put a stamp or number or something and there isn't space? There must be a reason... Hopefully they checked the whole thing and so you can expect they won't send it back for anything else missing or unsigned, etc. Well good luck on your second time around!

Hey FS, we checked the closures for our VO (Berlin) listed on their website and they just have the normal Canadian stat hols that you would expect. However, you could imagine they would have very minimum staffing for a couple weeks. Just like everywhere. We've got an excel sheet to calculate our hoped/anticipated PPR date based on the other applications going through Berlin in 2009 listed on trackitt.com (yes, we are nerds) and we added 2 weeks extra to our expected timeline for xmas holidays, although I guess in some EU countries they take 3 weeks because of Epiphany. For once I'm glad that Canadians get squat vacation days because I reckon the Embassy staff are governed by Canadian employment regs!

I just tried to reach CIC by phone, from Japan. The operator told me that the 1-888 number that they gave me is not available in our area. How do I go about contacting them? Or is that wishful thinking? :'(

Nope, there is a normal phone number, I found it on the forum and used it last month, took me a whole minute to get through and apparently they are open something like 8 or 9am until 4:30pm in every time zone, so you have a large window of time when you can call from overseas which is handy when you live in Japan I reckon

Thanks TLH, I saw on the website today they are looking at applications for the 16th of November, ours was in on the 25th... we are hoping for an early xmas present - not a late one

Do you log onto ecas with the sponsors information? or the sponsee (just made that up, nifty eh?)? I don't want to be foolishly checking incorrectly!

I thought for SURE I would see something on eCAS today, but... nothing. We sent the application on November 9th by regular Danish mail. According to Post Denmark, it would take max. 6 working days to arrive in Canada (and we've never had a problem with the postal service before). So assuming it arrived at the latest day, that would be Monday 16th November. Shouldn't we have heard something by now? Or will we have to wait a whole week until next Tuesday when they update the site again? (Is it definitely always Tues. they update it or have there been exceptions?)

We were not able to log into ecas until a day after our application had been processed, approved, and letter sent (which makes sense, cuz that's when they would first enter in your data). Until you get the letter from Mississauga with your Client ID# I believe the only way to log in is with the sponsor's name/info and the receipt number. It worked that way for us. It seems the CPC are processing many ppl's sponsorship apps in under a month, so if yours is straightforward I expect you'll hear something/see something on ecas by Christmas (I doubt they're all going off on hols until later in December).

1) Should I be worried at this point?

I'm using the Receipt Number generated through my online payment for e-cas.
In e-cas, I entered my last name(I'm the sponsor), my date of birth and place of birth and nothing shows up.

I'm checking e-Cas every day - my husband is coming to Canada for a month as a vistitor on Friday, so we are hoping to hear while he is here!

Thanks for the tips on e-Cas TLH and ekristensen - at least I know im checking the right way, even though its in vain atm.

I don't think you should be worried. As of yesterday, they were processing applications received up to November 16. They update on Tuesdays, so there's probably no point in checking before next Tuesday afternoon.

I beg to differ...

Our ecas account became active (ie we could login for the first time) on a Friday!!!

Yesterday evening (Wednesday) it was updated by our VO and our PR application status changed to "In Process"!!!
