My profile shows background check "Not Applicable". Yesterday it was "We are processing your background check". I am so worry, anyone had this problem before?

I don't know whether they stop replying all emails concerning status of application or it was only me! They replied my status update email in January and February within 2 days but don't receive anything yet after inquiring on March 13th!

In my GCM notes I can see field

Misrepresentation : Not started

I know for sure, that there was no such statement in my GCMS notes when it comes to the checks in CIO. However I do not know for LVO (transfer to LVO was the last thing on my notes).

But for one thing.
Whatever is stated as not started in your notes, it is actually started and running (just not finished).
Same like when your security is there as not started, that does not mean that it is not started.
Actually such process does start from that NOT STARTED date.

Other thing, check carefully on the top right corner of your security part of notes and also check in which area exactly is this statement listed.
Also check the date, when that one was added.
All that shall give you a bit idea what gave this allert.

It could be.
That is why I never notice such thing in my notes. (I was only studying things that had any dates or movement there in order to get as many details as possible).

Misrepresentation in my notes fall under Family Class Sponsorship - which is not the kind of application we're applying under. Most of us are Express Entry, which is an Economic Class. This is why most of us don't have it (blank.)

I think it's a way of saying stop bothering us, as they noted in their previous email six month is just a guidance period

Hi Guys. I am really looking for your help.

My PR application has been in process for the last 18 months and still no signs of it.

My Post Graduate Work Permit is going to expire in June 2017 for which I was planning to apply today.

The biggest issue is that my passport expires in March 2018. According to everyone I have asked, I should apply for a renewal atleast 6 months prior. Which means I have 6 months until I renew.

Now I honestly do not expect my PR to come anytime soon. And I cannot wait to renew my passport first and then apply for WP, that will be too late and my current WP will expire.


What I need to know is that when I apply for the WP and a TRV with my old passport, will they issue the bridging WP for one year i.e until Jun 2018 or it will be until March 2018 ( when my passport expires). Will I have to re apply for my WP and my TRV again? Or will they just give it until Jun 2018 inspite of my passport expiring in Mar 2018 and I can use the WP and TRV with my new passport.

Please help !!!!!!!!

Also will renewal of my Passport delay my PR application even more. Actually dnt care about that ....

I suggest you consult an immigration lawyer in this regard. Better to do so, than base your decision on the opinions of fellow forum members.

1. Renew your passport now (use expedite service, some embassies issue new passports on the same day).
2. Apply for WP with the new passport.
3. Submit your new passport copy to the IRCC via web form (for your PR app).

Renewing your passport will not have any impact on your PR application. Just inform IRCC about the change, providing a copy of the new passport.
I think, WP/visas are generally issued up until the expiry date of a passport only.

Thank you for your answer. Unfortunately the expedited services are not available in Ottawa for India Passport renewal. The only option for me I guess is to apply for work permit. Since I don't want to be in a situation that I delay applying for work permit and I dont get it in time thereby causing a gap between two work permits. This can also result in a time when I have no SIN CARD or even health card.

But this leads to another important question.

Since my passport is set to expire in March 2018. And if I go ahead and apply for my WP and TRV, they will give me an extension till MArch 2018.
Now I won't wait till the end of 2017 to apply for my renewal passport. I will probably do it by June. So is my WP and TRV still valid on the old passport while I still hold a new passport?
