Hi to all.

I just got a note in my door (townhouse) saying that we are not allowed to keep exotic animal (such as a snake), i dont know how the hell they noticed about it, but anyways, we didnt know that we are not allowed such animal and they are asking us to get rid of ir. It is a Blotched kingsnake around two months old 16 inches long, we just bought it last saturday (not even a week) and now we are trying to sell it :( .
Im in Edmonton if anyone is interested on it.

heres a pic of it: http://edmonton.kijiji.ca/c-ViewAd?AdId=286990971&Guid=13047dfa-42f0-a20b-2757-4414fffed130

Thank you guys.

Apologize profusely, say you will sell it, then get someone you know to come and very obviously take a snake cage away. Then just keep the snake in a very secure cage, and make sure no one sees it.
If you have young kids, this won't work, because it will be impossible for them to keep such a secret, but otherwise that is what I'd do. A 16-inch snake isn't any threat, and won't make any noise.

Thank you canadianwoman.

Thats exactly what me and my wife just discussed today. We do have a 3 little girl and im pretty sure thats how they found out that we have a snake.
They made it pretty clrear, they want the snake out in a week or we pack out our stuffs and we decided not to take a chance, maybe, after the lease is over, we can look for a more private place like a house to rent and then we will try again with snakes, yeahh.

For now, i have till tuesday to get rid of it and try to get our money back or we are gonna have to donate it, either way, its leaving.

Thank you.

Sorry. People are so unreasonable sometimes. A small snake is not going to bother anyone else in the building. But I agree it is unrealistic to expect a 3-year-old to not tell, plus being asked to hide this info would just confuse her. If you can't sell it or give it back to the store, the SPCA will take it.

Is the exotic animal prohibition covered in your lease agreement?

Hi AllisonVSC.

We didnt read the lease agreement when we sign it (who does [i guess]) but yup, as soon as we got that notice on our door i ran upstairs, got the contract and JACKPOT !!! there it was, no reptiles or exotic animal are allowed in the building, if we get a dog or a cat we have to pay $250 damage deposit.

I guess next time we rent we will ask about the pet policy eh.

Anyways, im still looking for some1 to buy it.

Thanks guys.
