Thinking about immigrating to Canada...

Immigrating

Hello. I'm thinking about immigrating to Canada in a couple months. However I've no idea what would happen after I get a ticket, fly over to Canada and exit the plane. Let me give you some information about myself, so perhaps I could get some realistic information.

I'm over 18.
I'll only have high-school diploma.
I enjoy IT (therefore I'd like my job to be IT-related, not a poorly-treated factory worker).
I don't know anyone in Canada.
I'd barely have money for the ticket, so I couldn't immigrate and enjoy the scenery for half a year.
I'm not social nor good-looking.
I couldn't share a room with anyone, I need my completely private space.

So what are my possibilities? If you've any questions, feel free to ask.

You can't immigrate just by arriving in Canada. If you want to immigrate - then you will have to apply through one of the immigration streams and then be accepted/approved. If you just got a ticket and flew to Canada - you would be admitted as a tourist and would have to leave after six months. And note that if you arrive as a tourist and look like someone who plans to stay permanently (e.g. have no return ticket, don't have enough money to fund your trip) - Canada might even refuse you entry and send you home.

I hate to say it - but as of now, I don't think you would qualify for any of the Canadian immigration streams. My suggestion would be to stay where you are, take additional schooling (college or university), then work for a few years - and then consider applying to immigrate. You will also need to save up money since for most immigration streams, you must be able to show that you have sufficient savings (around $10K) to establish yourself in Canada.

Oh - and just to add - as a tourist you cannot work it Canada and you also won't have access to free health care.

You don't say what country you're from. Depending on the answer, you may qualify for a working holiday visa which would let you visit and work in Canada for a year.

Can't do that. I've no money for any further education and the jobs pay just enough to survive. One of the reasons I want to get out of here. Thank you for the suggestion though.

My country is eligible for the working holiday visa, I've just checked that. However I do not have 2650cad for that. I probably take a loan around here, but what about the job? I can't be sure that I'll get one, can I? Especially with only high-school education.

You will probably get a job eventually on a working holiday visa but there's no saying how long that will take or what that job will pay. If you're really that short on money, I think coming here is very risky. Obviously just my opinion. Good luck regardless what you decide to do.
