As a former international student in Canada, I want to share some honest insights for those considering this path. While the idea of studying here can be exciting, it’s really important to think twice and plan ahead. Many students believe that a degree guarantees Permanent Residency, but that’s far from the truth—immigration rules are constantly changing, and job prospects can be limited to rare sometimes even for those with master’s or PhDs. On top of that, rent and living expenses are shockingly high. Unfortunately, there’s a growing sentiment that can make finding a job more challenging( not to mention the growing hostility towards international students), so it’s important to do your research and connect with current students and alumni. If you’re determined to make the leap, just be prepared for the realities ahead. Your future self will appreciate the foresight!
