So I'm on day 53 now and still have received no word about sponsoring approval. I've phoned the call centre many times and there is nothing they can tell me, as nothing is on the system except that my application has been received. On eCAS I can't be found. When I called the call centre on June 22nd, a message was sent to Mississauga and they have 30 days to respond with something, otherwise the call centre can "take action", so that takes me to July 22nd.

Can anyone tell me, what exactly can be done at this point? Does a decision have to be made by this time? Do Mississauga HAVE to respond by then and if not what happens?

Thanks for your input everyone, I'm nearly at the end of my tether here.

They have to give you an answer, even if it is a negative one. It can't just be in limbo. At the very worst, I expect that this will just force them to look at your file and handle it asap so you can move on to the next step, which is unfortunately more waiting, but at least moving forward! It's probably an oversight - a very inconvenient and annoying oversight. But I'm sure it will be rectified and you'll get your answer! :)

Thanks for your reply lovekitten.

Can anyone else tell me, before you heard about sponsorship approval, were you able to bring up your details on eCAS? Or is that information only available once you've been approved? I ask because eCAS is currently saying they cannot identify me and one of the reasons being my application may not be in process yet, but surely after 53 days it's being processed?!

eCAS is so variable it is not funny.
I know that eCAS went active for me nine days after my Canadian wife got an eCAS confirmation the was approved as a sponsor.

Processing times do vary, the CIC site does not offer fixed deadlines.

How are you login in to eCAS, with your receipt number?

Hi Baloo,

I've tried logging in with my receipt number, permanent residence card number and my Client ID number and none of them work. Any suggestions?

If you use the receipt number, enter your sponsor's information, not yours. Try that if you haven't already.

As noted, the receipt number is sponsor info'

If nothing works, you will have to wait.

The time on the Web site is an estimate, for processing 80% of cases. CIC do not have to respond to you within the specified number of days.
But they do have to respond eventually.

Not being able to access eCAS is quite common.

Applications are sometimes returned due to missing items, entries on forms. Some app's get lost in the mail and some get lost in the system.
I have not read all your posts, can I ask, did you get a confirmation of delivery?

Try calling the call centre again, different agents often give different replies.

Hi Baloo,

I'll give you a quick overview of my situation;

I'm a permanent resident sponsoring my British common law parter, who's residing in the UK and our dependant child, who is residing in Canada with me. Our application was received by Mississauga on May 16th, this has been confirmed. According to the website, processing times for my application was 40 days. On day 44 I phoned the call centre to be told they didn't have anything to tell me. Because it was passed the stated processing time, a message was sent to Mississauga asking for status on my application. I have phoned the call centre since then and have been told they are unable to provide me with any information or insite on my case, because nothing has been inputted by Mississauga, except that my application was received on May 16th.

What happens after the 30 days Mississauga have to respond? Do they have to reach a decision by then, or do they just have to notify me of where they are at with my application? What if they don't respond at all, then what?

I have been told by all the call centre agents that this is not normal and that I should have heard something by now. Also, when trying to log into eCAS with my Client ID number OR receipt number, it's unable to identify me.

PLEASE can anyone help me!?

Maybe the app is lost (misfiled) inside of Mississauga, it is rare, but obviously can happen.
Another option that happens is that the confirmation letter gets lost, not the whole package. This does not appear to be the case, this time.
Ignore eCAS for the moment, it is not always updated in a timely manner.
I would certainly call them again. It is not often that people get to 58 days.
I would also consider chasing your MP (I had to request help from MP's at a later stage in my process).

i'm sorry :( it's really rare what happens to u but it does happen from time to time; it could b many reasons: file lost, file returned and lost on the way back, misplaced (put in the group of parents sponsorship or inland) or they just take longer to process (more things to check up)

go to this thread to see that u r not the only one and also maybe get new ideas of what u could do

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t64546.0.html

(but i don't suggest to do like one of the people in that thread, sending a new application without knowing what happened to the first one or at least cancel it)

best of luck!! :)

That's because you applied inland. The OP applied outland. Two different processes and wait times.
