Hi friends ,
I want to share my experience till now which i have gone though. I have not got my medicals yet like many of the people in this forum, but still i wanted to share my feelings with you.
Dt. March 2010 -I was working in a bank since Dec 2005 in India earning approx Rs. 40 K per month and my wife earning about Rs. 15 K / month from her school job. At office till Oct 2009 everything was going on fine but after that there was a lot of work pressure from the job, in Nov 2009 I got married and it put further pressure on me to give time at home as well as keep my work at top notch at my office. However , I gave my best shot at work and kept the important parameters of my job at the best levels , but for this I had to put in a lot of time for the office work like working on Sundays, holidays, in the morning at 4 am and till late night. All this while I was not afraid of putting in the hard work, but at the same time there was no PEACE OF MIND. It was absolutely gone. And I felt as if some hidden force was pushing me to quit from this job.
In the office many people came to make foreign currency DDs/ Balance Certificates etc . One of them told me that if you are planning to apply for PR(which i was) you should do it asap. (This decision was made by me for - improvement in the quality of life , standard of living , facilities , peace of mind etc)I finalized it and applied through a consultant in April 2009. We were guided by the consultant at that time that we will get the visa in 6-8 months and ours is a very strong case. We thought we would be in Canada by Feb 2011 at the most and we decided that we would plan our child there only as otherwise there could be problems regarding medical (as my wife does not want to use protective shield for medical tests –x ray etc). Meanwhile I got a job offer from another bank where the work pressure was less but it was for another city. After thinking about it for a month I opted for it. Considering the fact that shifting to a new city, adjusting to new environment , new people , new job assignment will be an added experience and this will help me adjust in Canada. ( Though, It has increased my expenditure by more than double and also I am away from my parents, my wife had to leave her job too). Moreover we had thought its for 8 months only after that we are going to get our visas. So this will better equip us for adjusting in Canada.
We waited for the 1st Aor which was supposed to come in two months. But took more than three months. Ok. Some hope now. We had 120 days time. I went to apply for the ielts exam where I came to know that my passport is damaged (lamination had come off) and with this I cannot sit in the exam. I applied for a renewal/new passport which took a lot of time. Finally I gave the exam in Oct 2010 , got 8 bands and sent complete set of docs to CHC New Delhi in Nov 2010. We got the IInd AOR in Dec 2010. We thought we now would be in Canada by June 2011. But to our surprise we were told that you have to wait for another 5-6 months for the medicals. We were like
. 6-8 months was the original time frame told to us. Which means we have to delay family planning by another 6 months.
Now In May we are hearing news that the pre june 2010 applicants will have to wait for 2 years or more for processing. The first word that came out from my mouth was ‘ridiculous’. Absolutely rubbish. From 6 months of wait to more than 2 years. That is something very difficult to adjust to . Now A LOT OF FRUSTRATION is creeping in. Our family planning has gone for a toss. Now we are planning our child here in India only and go to Canada as late as possible. In the last month of validity of visa.
I am not a professional writer so I may not have been able to put my point or thoughts in a proper manner.
But the fact is after filing the application:
-your life changes – it changes the way you look at your expenses – it changes the way you take decisions regarding job change , family planning , some important purchases , change of home etc – it delays certain decisions – it changes your mental setup- it changes the way you think – in all it changes the way you live in a big way. Who is to be blamed for this?
Now if the wait is long than expected. Then frustration creeps in which may changes one’s behavior which may result in worse relations with friends and relatives.
Now here , such forum like this help to calm down and get the approx picture of whats going on and what to expect. But if your CAS status has not changed for long then visiting the forum on daily basis does not help to get along in life and live the present moment.
Now guys help me with this.
1. How easy / difficult it is to raise a new born in Canada . What do you suggest. Should I plan a baby here and take him/her along when he/she is 6 months or 1 year old , of course my wife will come along. Or should delay it and plan it in Canada? What are the pros and cons for these two scenarios?
2. You know my timelines . When should I expect to get my medicals and then visa ?
3. Do all family members have to go for medical test?
4. What should I do here in India. I mean I want to make good use of this time. What should I do. Learn some course. Learn some language. Do some study . Online research . whatever . Pls suggest. How can I make the best use of this time ?
5. Should I go for Caips notes now?
Guys pls share your thoughts.Dear qorax your help will be invaluable. It will help me as well as other people in this forum. thanks rsb 2010
