Hi,
I have just applied for my dream job in Alberta, which is also where my partner lives. I do not have any kind of visa currently, so I am requesting that the employer sponsor me for the visa. I want to be as prepared as possible to answer any questions about the visa process so that they are more likely to sponsor me, if at all possible. (I have already completed the application for a license to practice in my profession in Alberta, so that will not be a barrier).
Currently, my questions are:
1. Is the TFW visa the best option for me? I am an occupational therapist from the US. I would prefer to not be required to stay in Canada without being able to leave for too long.
2. How often is an employer denied sponsorship for a work visa?
3. If an employer is willing to help me transition into PR worker status (by making a permanent job offer):
A. would I encounter a "land" problem (i.e., would I then be required to stay in Canada for around one year without being allowed to leave); and
B. is it true that they would not have to complete a Transition Plan (other than to show proof of the permanent job offer)?
C. how long after hiring me as a TFW would they have to wait to offer me a permanent job offer?
Any educated advice is DEEPLY appreciated!
