TFW Visa Sponsored by Employer

Hi,

I have just applied for my dream job in Alberta, which is also where my partner lives. I do not have any kind of visa currently, so I am requesting that the employer sponsor me for the visa. I want to be as prepared as possible to answer any questions about the visa process so that they are more likely to sponsor me, if at all possible. (I have already completed the application for a license to practice in my profession in Alberta, so that will not be a barrier).

Currently, my questions are:
1. Is the TFW visa the best option for me? I am an occupational therapist from the US. I would prefer to not be required to stay in Canada without being able to leave for too long.
2. How often is an employer denied sponsorship for a work visa?
3. If an employer is willing to help me transition into PR worker status (by making a permanent job offer):
A. would I encounter a "land" problem (i.e., would I then be required to stay in Canada for around one year without being allowed to leave); and
B. is it true that they would not have to complete a Transition Plan (other than to show proof of the permanent job offer)?
C. how long after hiring me as a TFW would they have to wait to offer me a permanent job offer?

Any educated advice is DEEPLY appreciated!

Hi Julia,

I would highly recommend you to apply for PR directly as your occupation is in the list and there are bright chances that you would be in the 1000 cap because and you can leave canada anytime even if you land as a PR, and btw Employers find it difficult to get a TFW due to stringent laws

Hi dineshh.786

Thank you for your response. I was told that I would run into the problem that I wouldn't be able to leave Canada. You are sure that is not true? I think I was also told something like the cap was getting too close to 1000 or something but that was back in June. I guess it's a new cycle by now?

Also du know how long it usually takes to receive the visa this way? Would getting married and having my spouse sponsor me be faster? We are considering this option, though we would much prefer to have a long engagement period and all.

Thanks so much for your time and advice!

Re: TFW Visa Sponsored by Employer - Urgent!

I am needing advice as quickly as possible!

I have an employer who is looking seriously into sponsoring me. I realize the chances are small because of the stringent laws that they will want to avoid. But I need to know how often employers are denied sponsorship for a visa as long as they follow the process.

I want to be able to tell them that their efforts will likely be worth it, if they choose to put the time in.

Thank you!
