hi everyone i have got my work permit in last February. and my employer told me to do application thru their lawyer since they had pre-Approved LMO i told them to let me do it as i live in Canada from 3 years i have enough knowledge to apply for a work-permit but they said no that LMO is to be processed by that particulate lawyer so i did application through him and then he charged me $4000 for that simple application as on that time LMO were really easy to process and they had a pre-approved so as it got approved i got my work permit in February but as i was not employed but since i had work permit approved i started working and my employer told me that they wil take care of it and then working for this many months they paid in JUNE and i got my work permit in JUly.till today i never got paid bcoze i have to pay 650 rent to live with my employer in that house and have to pay part of the money that they paid to lawyer.i have worked 7 days a week and 60 to 72 hrs a week and if store is slow employer wil give us break in between out shifts and cut those money..
so the point is Can lawyer do that? can he hold my work permit?....or is it my responsibility as foreign worker to pay those money for application to retrieve my work permit ? please help regarding this i recently quit my job

You have been, and continue to be, ripped off. Most of what you have described is illegal... This is why the TFW system is seen as unfit for purpose by some.

Yes, report them to CIC and ESDC, maybe CRA as well. Be prepared to prove your allegations. It's up to you if you wish to identify the employer on here to warn other potential victims.
