Hey guys.

I was trying to take my test today and when I took the photo of my PR it was kind of blurry.

My face, name and ID number were readable but the smaller letters like the date of birth were not super clear.

Is this a real issue?? Should I get a better webcam??

Any experiences?

Thanks guys!

Well, many people have reported this on the forum. As long as the information on the ID is at least legible (can be read without too much difficulty), it should be good IMO.

Check the quality again. If the quality is really bad (the data on the IDs are absolutely unreadable), then you might wanna borrow someone else's laptop with a good camera OR buy a decent webcam.

same thing with my wife, no matter what we did we could not get it clear.

any update what will happen?
When me and my wife took the test, I had this blurry issue with the Built-in webcam in the laptop, just had to take few snaps before going with the one which is readable. For sure the small letters were not captured in the snap which I took, but as far your name, UCI/ID number & your picture is displayed correctly they will accept the photo of the PR/ID card.

We both now have Citizenship test status as completed on the tracker so which means they accepted photo of the PR/ID card.

I my opinion - light sourse is a problem. Most laptops have 720p or hd cameras. If u put light in front of the laptop than u almost blind the lesnse (keep in mind laptop camera lense is small). If u put light sourse behind or on the side of laptop u will get better result.

Another issue all or most laptop cameras are Auto focus cameras. They focus automatically on the object in front of the camera. They are dependent on light. I did not have my test yet, but sometimes you will get a better(clear) picture holding pr card just a bit far. It all depends. If it is blurry it cannot focus, put it more far.

Another rwason why it will not focus - background. If u will have many objects in background u will confuse camera in our case. Best result is same color darker background - grey or brownish wall. Background color should not be very light as well.

Again, i am not photographer but IT guy and have experience with cameras at work.

Hope that helps

Anton

Same with me. I checked my application and the test Citizenship field is marked as completed. So, like they said as long as the photo in your ID matches with the one they ask you to take before the test, it should be OK
