Dear forum memebers

when you rent an apartment do you need to have bought tenant insurance?
Is it a requirement? Because this web site is a little confusing:
http://www.albertacanada.com/immigration/living/home-insurance.aspx

Some rental agreements make tenant insurance mandatory - some do not. So the short answer is that you don't always need tenant insurance. However it's an extremely good idea to purchase this insurance. If there's a fire in your apartment, robbery or similar accident and you have no insurance - then you will get no assistance in replacing your belonging

I see.
Whats the general price for an insurance?
I know it depends of the property, type of insurance, premiums... but are walking about 50-60 CAD a months or 3-400 a month?

Sorry - I don't know the answer. I've never been a tenant. Hopefully somone else can help. Or you can look for an online quote from an insurance company.
