Tenancy agreement

My wife and I are renting a house in a rural area. It's an informal month to month rent as the owners know us.
It is a relatively big house, half of which we live and the other half the landlord and his wife. One of the documents we want to include in our package is rental agreement.

What would a rental agreement look like? Would an informal signed letter from landlord mentioning both our names as tenants be good enough? I just looked at some standard rental agreements and they are for lease, and more formal but ours is just monthly.

The tenancy agreement should include the following:

the names of the landlord and tenant(s);
the address of the rental property;
the agreed upon monthly rent and length of lease, if month to month then indicated that
emergency contact information for tenant and landlord (include phone, fax and email)
