Hi everyone, thank you for all your useful info on this forum. I have a couple of questions about the visa application process that I can't seem to find.

Background: I met my fiancee in college in Ireland and we have now lived together for 4.5 years in Ireland. We finished college in June 2015 and since working in Dublin, Ireland. He is a canadian citizen, I am Irish citizen. We are both dentists and have completed our canadian qualifications. We are getting married in Ireland in June 2016.

Visa: We submitted our visa application as common law in Nov 2015, awaiting any updates.

Questions:
1. If my fiancee is approved as a sponsor, can we then go to canada and me get a temporary work visa?
2. If yes to above, does this also include healthcare?
3. If yes, can I work there as self employed (dentists are...)
4. If I happened to get pregnant, will I have to pay privately for all expenses? We are hoping to start having children.

Thank you in advance.

You need a full time job offer and an approved LMIA from an employer in canada to apply for a work permit.

I would be self-employed... is there another temporary work permit option while waiting for the spouse visa?

No, temporary work permits after sponsor approval are only available for inland applications, which you wouldn't qualify for since they're for people already in Canada. If I were you, I would wait in Ireland with your spouse until your application is processed before moving. At least then you can be together and spend your time working. You can always move on a visitor's visa and wait (without work eligibility) in Canada for your application to be processed.

Thank you, this is very helpful.
