Temporary Work Permit Expiring, Open Permit & Spousal PR Pending

Hi all, I’ve been in Canada since May of 2018 on an employer specific Temporary Worker Visa. I have since married a Canadian and we submitted the PR application for inland spousal sponsorship with an open work permit application.

I know that my PR app will take a while to work through the system but does anyone know processing times for open work permits right now? I got mine in mid-March and my temp foreign worker visa expires mid-May. Any chance I’ll get the OWP by then? If not, what do I do?!?

You have implied status and can continue working after the expiry of your closed work permit for your current employer until a decision is made in your OWP application.
