Hi,

I am a Canadian citizen working in Ontario, Canada. My wife is an Indian resident currently working in India. I want to know if it is possible to call her on visit visa or do I have to apply for Immigration. Since the immigration process takes so long, I want her to come here on visit visa and stay with me while the immigration process continues. Are the chances she gets the visa good or bad? If she gets it and comes here will she be able to apply to a university and convert that visa into a student visa if she gets enrolled?

I would really like to have her here as soon as possible but I dont want to apply for visa if I know she will get rejected, it might hurt the chances of getting the immigration done.

Any advice would be helpful!

Thank you

She can certainly apply for a visitor visa. Unfortunately there is a good chance the visa will be refused because CIC will suspect she has plans to stay in Canada long term. But you can certainly try. The refusal will not harm her PR application.

You cannot "convert" a visitor visa to a study permit. If she is able to secure a visitor visa and comes to Canada - and is then accepted to a school - she will have to apply for the study permit through her home country visa office. This will include sending her passport to her home country visa office if she is approved.

I would still want her to immigrate to Canada but in the meantime I would like to come and visit and stay a couple of months here. Is there any other way that she can come here, which is relatively quick to apply and get?
