Hi,

My spouse is in Canada on business visa and is soon applying for the Temporary Resident Visa and the Work Permit through his company. As I understand, once he gets the permit and visa, then only I will be eligible to get an open work permit based on my spouse application. (please provide more details, if both processes can work in parallel or so..)

On the other side, My brother-in-law is preparing to pursue higher education (Masters) in Canada next year. We are thinking to process his Temporary Resident Visa/Study visa along with my spouse's application so he can come with us, stay and also apply for study visa from Canada.

My question is: Is this scenario possible where we can start processing all of this along with my spouse's application? If yes, please provide details around the process.

Hoping to get clarity on this :)

Thanks a lot in advance!

Provided your spouse's job is NOC level A, B or 0 - you can apply for an open work permit. If you have specific questions about this process, I would recommend you post them in the Foreign Workers section of the forum.

Your brother-in-law is not a dependent. He must apply for his temproary resident visa and/or study permit separately and his application cannot be processed together with your spouse's application. Information on how to apply for a study permit can be found here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study.asp If you have specific questions about this process, you should post them in the International Students section of the forum.

Hi Scylla,

Thank you for attending my concern :)

Yes, he is most likely to fall under NOC 'A' category. He is working as a Project Manager in Management Consulting domain (Retail & Merchandise Analytics)

Sure, I will come back to you in case of additional query in future

Thanks,
Rinki
