I have a TRV for 2 years and will be landing in Toronto on 30th Aug. My workplace is in Ontario.
For the initial few days my employer will provide me with an accommodation in a hotel and rental car for commuting.
I have my driving license from India which is 3 years old and planning to get the IDP before starting for Canada.
Now my questions:
1) I had been visiting Canada multiple times in the span of past years on a Business Visa and was driving for a duration of 1 week to 10 days using my Indian driving license, whenever I visited. But now that I have a TRV and will be staying in Canada, can I appear for the driving test (G2) within one week of landing i.e while I am staying at the hotel? Do I need to show a residence address other than hotel address while applying for the driving license?
2) Can I buy a car if I fail G2 and then appear and pass G1?
3) Can I buy a car while I am staying in a hotel or a short term rented accommodation?
I am sure many people would have been in my place. So awaiting for quick and helpful response / insights / experiences.
Thanks
