Hello all,

I apologize in advance if this is wrong place to post this topic.

I am looking for your suggestions, please help.

Background: I applied for PR on December 9th. My PGWP expires on April 30, 2016. My Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) sticker already expired.

I need to visit back-home in the middle of February. I am curious if I apply for TRV by Friday this week, by when I will receive it? Do you know what the average processing time for TRV?

Also, is it worth to apply for TRV when my PR application is being processed? Please advice. Thanks

You can apply TRV whether paper or online, processing time now only 12-13 days. But I would suggest apply by paper because you won't wait for passport request you can courier all packed at the same time. In my opinion, it won't effect you PR application, no worry

Hello again,

I read the following information on CIC:

If you are in Canada and need to extend your Work Permit and renew your Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), submit a separate application for the new TRV to the Case Processing Centre in Ottawa only after CIC has approved the extension of your Work Permit.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/extend-worker.asp

My work permit expires on April 30th - that means I will have to wait until I get the work permit and then apply for the TRV?

Please help.

You can apply for work permit extension and trv right away.

You will get trv till apr 30. When you get your new work permit then you have to apply for trv again.
