Hello

I have two questions about the program that gives work permits to nationals of Iran while in Canada on a tourist visa.

Once granted a work visa, can the person return to Iran for a short period of time then come back to Canada while preserving the privileges of the work visa?

If the person's passport expires soon after the grant of the work visa, can he use the visa in the old passport in combination with the re-renewed passport?

No. The whole point of the work permit is that you don’t feel safe to return. If you can return to Iran then you are safe to do so. It is intended to extend your stay in Canada not allow you to go back to Iran and then return.

Many Iranians have chosen to come to Canada to visit or spend time with family, study, or work temporarily. It is understood that some of these temporary residents may feel uncomfortable returning to Iran at this time, and may wish to prolong their stay. The measures outlined in this public policy will make it easier for those who wish to extend their temporary stay in Canada without fees and move between temporary resident streams.

The program is not meant to allow Iranian citizens to skip normal procedures for qualifying for a WP. This was really meant for the people who were already in Canada when the protests started. There are no guarantees you will get a WP as a new arrival. You would be applying for extend your time when you just arrived. Agree if you apply for the program you are essentially saying you fear for your safety Iran so going to Iran would be a bad idea.
