Hello all,

Hopefully someone knows an answer.

I was wondering if it is a must to notify IRCC if I would be out of country for more than two weeks? It seems to me that this request is more to make sure they are not scheduling an oath during your absence and that you will be able to receive mail. I live with my partner in Canada and only I will be away for 3 and half months so he can receive all mail securely for me. I received AOR and my applications is in process since May and the only thing that I would expect during this absence is to receive a test invite, but I can take that from out of country. I already have my valid biometrics. I am worried that if I notify them it will cause further delays (and it already seems so slow for online applicants) and that maybe they wouldn't want to keep working on my application until I am back in November. And I can always change my flight ticket if needed.

Once you have applied you don't have to notify anyone of your intent to or actual travel. If your application is in process only since May 2022, it is highly unlikely that anything will have over the next few weeks or even till your planned return in November.

Thank you! Did you have similar case or know anyone who did? I am asking because it say on their website we should notify them if out of country for more than two weeks however, I really think that is more to make sure you are there in person when needed and to receive mail (and I probably won't need any of these two while I'm away).

Yes, as of today you can take the test out of country but you have to let them know about that. This was changed due to Covid. Keep checking for the updates closer to your date: https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1571&top=5

A number of people applied and left Canada, during Covid. Some have returned, some haven't. Dozens of people sharing their experiences here. Due to the backlog, they will prioritize who are back in Canada. I'm guessing that is logical and not an announced policy decision.
