Temporarily Traveling Outside Canada with a Soon-to-be-Expired Work Permit

Hi all,

I have a simple question - but it is bothering me quite some time.

Here is my situation
  • My work permit is going to expired on Jun 30, 2017 and it says "Must leave Canada by Jun 30 2017". (And I am still working in June)
  • I am going to a wedding in the US from Jun 16 to Jun 19.
  • I have applied to "Change my status to visitor" on Apr 25. It is still processing.
  • I have eTA and I am from a visa-exempt country.
  • I am applying for permanent residency through Express Entry. Just got ITA yesterday.
  • I did not have a "return" flight leaving Canada.
Should I be worried? The website says that

"Having an eTA or a visa, along with your work permit, doesn’t guarantee that we will let you back into Canada. You must show the border services officer that you meet all the requirements before we will let you re-enter."

and the "requirements" said that I should indicate when I am leaving Canada, but I do not have this. Even I am showing the border agent that I have an implied status. Should I be worried?

Thanks

PS: First post here. Sorry if I asked a stupid question or it should be in a thread.
