I'm applying for a TWP under Canada-Chile free trade agreement. Anybody knows nowadays how long is taking this kind of permit? I know it's in New York office. Any info is appreciated. Thanks

Apparently it could take up to two months but make sure your occupation falls into the list they stipulate , not all occupations are there (I'm speaking more from Peru or Colombia Free trade agreement) , have a read to Canada affairs the chapter where they specify professionals (they are like NAFTA but not at same time). Is it for Chileans VO New York office ? I thought it was Santiago.

Now I'm on the 10th week without hear any news, so I'm a bit anxious about it and don't know what to expect. My consultant told me is not so good idea to put some pressure with mails or calls over Cic...

Yes, I applied inside Canada, I'm a visitor right now. My country doesn't need Biometrics, medical examination or visitor visa, lucky me. You gave me some calm with your answer, I think I've already waited the most part... So 2 or 3 weeks more wouldn't be so harmful...

My friend I might be wrong but I've read from a source that with very few exceptions you can not pass from a visitor visa to a work permit , in that case the application should have made outside Canada , so I Believe you should have sent It to Chile VO and not To New York (regardless you're in Canada). Remember to keep your status of visitor Because Applying for a work permit you Dont have implied status .
Hi thank you for your answer. Where you heard this? I did the app with a consultant, I know nowadays this is not a guarantee for anything... but it's supposed he has to know if this is ok or not and he told me that he did other app for free trade inside Canada in the past. He submitted the app online to CIC, but for his experience he think that is 99% prob. the app is in New York. Also if it's approved I have to go anyway to the border in order to activate the WP status.
Yes my status is ok, actually I did a extension of my visitor period and was already approved so I'm fine fortunately.
PD: Canadian consulate in Chile is closed for Chilean app since 2015, they moved al the app for chileans to Argentina and Mexico offices (and some to USA I believe...)
