I am US citizen employed full time as software engineer for a US based company that has all of its employees working remotely. They have workers in Canada as well and they are classified as self-employed full time contract workers by the company. Who do I need to contact to get definitive answer on how I would apply for moving to Canada permanently?

I have been working remotely at this company for over 3 years now and remote work as software engineer for over 15.

There's no one for you to contact - apart from hiring an immigration lawyer or consultant to assist you with the process if you're willing to pay the fees.

Your process for applying for permanent residency will be no different than anyone else's. The fact you are a US citizen and your company has remote workers in Canada gives you no advantages and there's no special immigration stream this qualifies you for.

The first step is to review Canada's immigration programs to understand what the requirements are and if you qualify to apply. You can find this detailed information here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/apply.asp Again, if you're not able or not interested in doing this research yourself, you'll need to hire an immigration lawyer or consultant to help you. Assuming you are going to research on your own, I would recommend you start with the Express Entry / Federal Skilled Worker program. Note that you'll need to take a language test to qualify for any immigration program to Canada. You'll also most likely need to get your education officially assessed. I would kick these activities off sooner rather than later since they take time to complete.

Good luck.
