Technicalities of living in another country 6 months and police certificates

My husband is from Peru and I'm sponsoring him. Currently he is working in another South American country. If he lives there 5 months and 3 weeks, we DON'T have to submit new police reports, right? Example: January 8-July 1.
The application has been submitted but I was told that he'd need to send new ones if he was there more than 6 months.

January to July is MORE than 6 months.....

Actually, no.. January 8th to February 8 is one month, to March 8 is two, to April is 3, to May is 4, to June is 5 and to July 8th is 6.

Anywoo, silly question, I know, but do they need police certificates for only exactly 6 months+? One or two weeks less don't require a certificate, right? The reason why it concerns me is that in peru, they needed 3 from 3 different places across the city plus their translations (100$ abouts). He's only in that country for 6 months anyway, so we're thinking if he leaves 1-2 weeks before 6 months (January 8-July 1) it'd be "certificate free". He's not a criminal, it's just such a hassle to get them.

Technically, no, not at the time you submit the application if he hasn't been there for 6 months. BUT, I would bet that CIC will ask for it when they begin processing his application is he is still living and working in that country.
 
To be on the safe side just get a police certificate and submit it with your application. Days do not appear on the forms ,so when IO sees January and July he will request a police Certificate and that will cause a delay if you don't submit one now. Bear in mind VO can request an additional Police Certificate during the processing period even if you submitted one with the initial application if they realize that you continued to live in the country after the submitting your application

This is immigration, those answers don't always help.

Provide a police check, it is the best approach.

Well I was expecting more than a yes or a no, it was more of a joke in response to the haiku response I had received. ;)
 
In my opinion there was sufficient input to help you make up your mind .This is just a forum,but at the end of day the onus is on you to make a decision as an applicant. For a yes or no answer you should consider the services of an immigration lawyer
 
Like Ario said...if you need a 'yes' or 'no' answer , u really need to talk to a lawyer.
If it was me, I would still get the police clearance to be on the saffer side just because 5 mnths and 3 wks is really close to 6 mnths!!
Just in case immigration decides they want the PCC, it's going to further delay the process...so might as well hv thngs handy before they ask for it!!! Good luck!
