I am visiting Canada from the UK as a tourist. Before leaving, I called my UK bank and changed my address to the Canadian address of a friend whose apartment I am staying at. I received a letter in the mail there from my UK bank asking me to fill out a form confirming my country of tax residency. Since I'm only a visitor here in Canada, I believe I cannot be a tax resident here so I ticked the box for UK Tax Resident Only. Did I do right?

Why did you change the address on your bank account? Yes you are not a Canadian tax resident.

I changed the address on my bank account because I wanted to receive my mail here in Canada over the course of my stay.

Don't they have internet banking there to get e-statements rather than paper statements?
