I have done a short landing in canada, and whilst I was there I sent of for my PR card, my driving licence, health insurance card and opened my bank account and credit card.

I am currently not in Canada and won't be for at least several months. Do I have to pay any tax of anything if I am not in Canada and do I have to inform anybody that I am not in Canada, i.e. revenue Canada.

I would really appreciate your help

Much appreciated

For tax return yes you have to file it every year whether you were here in Canada or not. Even if you made $0 in Canada then also you have to file tax return.

If you stayed in Canada for more than 183 days then you will be considered Non-resident and more then 183 days will be considered Resident of Canada. You will have to report your foreign income and you will have to pay tax according to foreign treaty. But you will also get tax credit for taxes you paid in your country.

You don't have to inform any body of not being in Canada.

Sorry as I have to mention few other things to make my point.

Hope you got what you were looking for.
