Tax owing to CRA and MR delayed.........are they related??

Hi All,
I am in a strange situation now. I applied for my PR with the T4 and NOA of 2012. Today when I called up the CRA helpline, they told me that after reassessment I owe them around $500.
I told them that I was not informed about it so I did not pay.They said they had mailed me the document regarding that in Nov 2013,the mistake I did was I did not update my address so I missed their mail. Anyways, I paid them as soon as I came to know about it.

Now, I have been waiting for my medical since a month now...was my file not processed or kept on hold because I owed some money to CRA?? Will this have a -ve impact on my file??

Both are separate government bodies. They are not related at all and they don't share information with each other. So delay of your MR has nothing to do with Tax you owing to CRA.

JPMH_CEC_2013, I'm pretty sure your MR is delayed because of your Employment letter, or country of citizenship. Or maybe just processing queue got mixed.

But I'm sure its not because you owe taxes. We all do

Thanks brother, even I was thinking that something was wrong with my employment letter or reference letter.
The job responsibilities mentioned on my reference letter has bit similar wordings as that mentioned on the HRSDC website...I don't know if that is the issue....anyways, I am planning to email them about this......when a August last week applicants file is being worked upon....I dont see a reason in saying my file is in the queue, as I am a july first week applicant. BTW, I got a reply on March 10 that my file is in queue...

Everyone's file takes different processing times due to many factors. You are well within processing timeline so I suggest being patient
