Hi Seniors,

This is a good question as if we move in Canada after July then we will not be staying for more than 183 days.. do we need to still pay income tax for the period before we move to Canada.

How the income tax slab will be determined.. they will only consider Canadian income or the entire year income to determine tax rate.

Thanks

pulling it up... seniors please respond as I can plan my movement if there is a tax benefit.

Many thanks.

The Tax Guide & Forms for 2011 are out on the CRA website.
(For those in Canada & having to file Returns for 2011)

http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/formspubs/t1gnrl/menu-eng.html.

(You can actually save (get a refund) a lot of Tax through deductions & exemptions). Do read the guide thoroughly & consult a CA for filing the returns.

Thanks Saki for the post, I'm filing my tax as a newcomer this year... The instruction on the CRA helps a lot

Online Canadian tax calculator for resident of each province. Please note, this is NOT for immigrants in their first year in Canada:

http://lsminsurance.ca/calculators/canada/income-tax

I crunched numbers for a few situations and appears accurate. Hope this helps.

Thanks,
