Hello to all

I have a police certificate from my country. I have translated it through official translator. Do I still have to notarize it ?.
This is a burden for me and I want to clarify this. I will send to CIC the original plus the official translation.
My God I don't know why this confuses me so much?

Anyone that can help me here?

Regards

The original document does NOT need to be certified, since you are sending the original and not a copy.

When we did this in the end we submitted 3 pages. 1. The original doc 2. The translation 3. The certification of translation (basically the stamp from official translator that the translation was true, accurate, etc etc)

Just to add to Rob_TO's response, the certification is called an affidavit (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3900ETOC.asp#3900E3) which is basically a text where the translator has sworn in the presence of a notary public or other official (can be done at a Canadian Embassy, but that can be expensive) that the contents of the translation is accurate.

You can probably find a translation service in your locality where this can get done easily so you'll have to shop around, probably looking in the Yellow Pages or asking at one of the major international language schools such as Berlitz or Alliance Française. Our official documents translations were done and certified by an English teacher at the local university, who in turn signed the translations in front of a notary public. We had no problems with the translated documentation.

Good luck.

Thank you Farfelu

As I mentioned in my message the translator is an official appointed and government licensed translator in this country. My question was: Do i still need to notarize it. Note: I am sending the original Police certificate along with the official translation

That's fine then. No need to get anything else notarized if you are also submitting the original police cert.
