Taking semester break

Hi,
I'm just done with semester 4. The next two semesters are my co-op. However, I'm not eligible for co-op and semester 5 courses are available only next summer. So can I take the 8 months break ?

Don't believe so. You need to be studying or the school will advise IRCC you are not and cancel you student visa.
