Hello!

My wife is currently waiting on her PR. Her VR ran out on March 18, but we applied through the CIC online for a new one around the middle of February, so she's now covered under implied status.

I know you're legally allowed to take short classes in Canada as a visitor if they're under a certain length and end within your VR timeline, but is she allowed to take a short course while she's under implied status? It's six classes long (2x a week for 3 weeks) and would be over by the middle of April. Is it okay for her to participate in something like that?

We just got a CIC "update" today regarding the VR to let us know that there have been no updates, and we're not expecting there to be a decision made any time soon, since it took 2+ months last time around.

Still, we don't want to break any rules!

Do not quote me on this but, I believe she can as long as the course is no more than 6 months in length. That is at least the information my husband and I came across when searching.

also note depending on the province/school, as a spouse of a canadian citizen she may be eligible for "Canadian" pricing and won't need to pay the international premium. I know this to be true for my area in ontario.
