Taking a car from US to canada and then back to US after one year

We just received our Canadian CoPRs and haven't done a landing yet. We want to drive our car from US to Canada, stay in Canada for an year with the car and then come back to live in the US along with the car.

1. Can we just skip the car import/export process since the car won't be in Canada for more than a year?
2. If we can't skip it, will we need to export+import it twice to accomplish this? The first export+import to Canada will presumably be duty free but the second one from Canada to US will presumably not be duty free.
3. The other alternative is for us to export the car to Canada, sell it in Canada after an year and then buy a new one in the US after we move back.
4. Is the process of importing a car into Canada full of hassles or relatively straightforward in practice?

Thank you.

1. No
2. Second one from Canada to US will be duty free since car was originally bought in USA.
4. It's lengthy multi-stage process but relatively hassle free. Their are multiple threads in this forum on this process.
