Hello ,
I moved to Canada in 2017 on a intra company transfer. I am on work permit which expires on Jan 2019 with my current employer. I donot have a PR nor I have applied for one yet. There might be some layoffs in my company in next few months and I want to be prepared.
Scenario 1: If I get laid off by my current employer
Thank you!

Scenario 1: If I get laid off by my current employer
- Can I continue to stay in Canada till my current work permit expires in Jan 2019 ?
- Is it legal to stay back and find another job and get a new work permit with new employer before my current status expires in Jan 2019.
- Can new employer apply a new work permit for me while I continue to work for my current employer ?
- By doing this will it cancel my current work permit ?
- Would my current employer know I applied for work permit with a new employer unless i communicate ?
- Do I have an option to choose which employer I want to continue with if I hold more than one active work permit (if thats allowed) ?
Thank you!
